New video highlights M Performance parts for the BMW M2

BMW's new M2 has been hailed by many as the sporty coupe that harks back to the legendary early M3s, and now the German automaker has released details on a slew of M Performance Parts designed to hop up the little coupe even more.
For now, the parts are mostly aerodynamic and styling bolt-ons, not actual go-fast goodies, as BMW showed off at last year's SEMA. But we anticipate that items like custom suspension tuning and a raucous exhaust system are merely around the corner.
The video highlights a host of carbon fiber bits designed to spice up the exterior: a rear diffuser, trim for the tailpipes, a front splitter, side skirt extensions, mirror caps, and a rear spoiler. Inside, BMW's M Performance Parts offers a gear lever covered in, you guessed it, carbon fiber, as well as a "pro" steering wheel wrapped in grippy Alcantara. Black kidney grilles and signature BMW M tri-color stripes round out the stylistic changes.
The only non-styling modification is a flap silencer system for the car's exhaust.
The M2's relative simplicity up against the larger M3/M4 and M5 has already earned it a place in the hearts of many reviewers, but we imagine it will take some parts that actually live up to the performance side of M Performance Parts to really pique our interest at a dealer's accessories counter.
