taillights not working

My 1997 convertible's tailights aren't working, even though:

• bulbs appear OK
• fuses appear OK
• no message on console readout

... any suggestions?

... well, i figured it out. i have to turn on the dashboard lights to get the running lights to go on. this is because i had the car rewired by
BMW dealer for daytime running lights when i imported it, and they did a crappy job. headlights go on with ignition, but taillights don't. i now have any electrical work done elsewhere.
