Looks like I made the mistake of upgrading phones..

I have a 2005 525i...and have been using my trusted Motorola Razr for the longest time and it was very easy to link up to my BMW bluetooth.

Recently I upgraded to an LG Chocolate 8550 and have tried numerous times to link/synch the bluetooth and the phone but neither will pick up each other's signal.

Is it basically incompatible then? Or do other bimmers have any luck?

Hi BimmerD,
I had a similar problem last week. I found that my phone would host only one bluetooth device at a time. As soon as I deleted my previously programmed earpiece device from my cell phone, the car and the cellphone mated up immediately. I dont know which of your devices has the low tolerence for interfacing, but I would start with phone. Hope this helps
